There is no doubt that travelling “gets” even the most sedentary people. One day, often unprepared, voluntarily or not, they get on a train and the only thing they can do is to unite the views they see through the window into stories. Being a part of someone’s story or just a landscape can be surprising or even funny. However, most often it is disappointing because someone has neglected their own story. They have been marginalized or treated badly in someone else’s story. And at that momentitturns out that emotions like disappointment, anger, helplessness, frustration are railway switches that lead us to the sidetracks of the journey in which every story is a part of a common history book – the time. Is it not better to ask questions that lead our story to the rocky mountains’ tracks, endless bridges over chasms or tunnels where we cannot see a light for too long? So, the first question is: are the passing views a series of pictures connected by logic, sense or, at least, the aspiration of sense? Or are they only an accidental collage? Are the pictures, which sense may be hidden for long, sent tous by someone? And if so, who are the senders? What are their aims? What are they going to achieve? When the pictures move in front of our eyes, should they awake any feelings in us? We do not know the last picture, which would probably explain more to us, but are we allowed to neglect the preceding views? We can distance ourselves a little but there is not much space for it on a train, in a compartment filled with individuals similar to us. We can jump out of the train but then we will never know the last view, since the last one for us will be one of the preceding pictures. And the last question: is the meaning of the passing views true? Is it not a suggestion made by other frustrated passengers whose mercy we are doomed to?
So, though the locomotive has its three headlights, there is only one kind of light we want to see in a tunnel. Will it appear…..?
