Są obrazy, które każą nam się na chwilę zatrzymać. Niezależnie od tego, czy spacerujemy przez muzealne sale, czy wertujemy albumy, czy – jak coraz częściej bywa – wpatrujemy się w ekran komputera albo telefonu. Bez względu na okoliczności zwracają naszą uwagę. Dlaczego akurat one? Przecież powstały w różnych epokach i technikach, rozmaita jest ich tematyka. Niektóre z nich są bardzo znane, inne widzimy po raz pierwszy. A jednak – coś je łączy. Zapewne to, że próbują nam coś „powiedzieć”. Zawierają więcej, niż pokazują. Niosą tajemnicę. Budują skojarzenia. Pokazują złożoność świata. Uczą empatii i tolerancji. Wszystko to stanowi o ich potencjale narracyjnym. Oczywiście dobór dzieł, za pośrednictwem których opowiemy o świecie obrazów, jest względny – warunkowany wrażliwością i aktualnymi zdarzeniami. Zresztą, nie stworzyliśmy tej kompozycji sami. Impuls do przywołania na scenie konkretnych obrazów dał nam tajemniczy artysta – wandal i geniusz, który posiada niezwykłą zdolność redefiniowania pojęcia sztuki. W naszym wspólnym performansie możliwe jest spotkanie twórczości Leonarda da Vinci, Matejki, Dixa, Velazqueza, Gierymskiego, Bilińskiej, Duchampa, Delacroix, Picassa, Warhola i… Banksy’ego. Osobliwa to Galeria, tym bardziej, że jej bohaterowie, którzy zazwyczaj patrzą na nas niemi i nieruchomi, dostają tu szansę na wyjście ze swojej ramy; poza ramy tradycyjnie rozumianej sztuki.

There are pieces of art that make us stop for a minute. No matter if we wander through the museum rooms, flip through the albums or – a more frequent occurrence – stare at the screens of computers and phones. Regardless of circumstances they catch our attention. But why? After all, they come from different times,  various techniques and they differentiate in their subjects. Some of them are very popular, some of them we see for the first time. However, they have some similarities. Surely, they want to “tell” us something. They contain more than they show. They have secrets. They build associations. They portray the complexity of the world. They teach us empathy and tolerance. All of these things contribute to their narrative potential. Of course, the choice of works through which we tell the story of the world of images is relative – conditioned by sensitivity and current events. Besides, we did not create this composition alone. The impulse to evoke specific works on the stage was given to us by a mysterious artist – a vandal and genius who has the extraordinary ability to redefine the concept of art. In our joint performance, you can see the works of Leonardo da Vinci, Matejko, Dix, Velazquez, Gierymski, Bilińska, Duchamp, Delacroix, Picasso, Warhol and… Banksy. Such a peculiar Gallery, all the more so because its protagonists, who usually watch us mute and motionless, are given a chance to step out of their frames; out of the frames of traditionally understood art.
